Officer James Kohler

Hi, I am Officer James Kohler. I am currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division, where I proudly serve the citizens of Holly Springs. I began my law enforcement career in 2001 when I joined the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Unit as an auxiliary deputy. After graduating from the Northwest Police Academy in December of 2002, I served in the Reserve Unit as a certified peace officer until January of 2005. During my time with the Reserve Unit, I served as the administrative Sergeant and Secretary/Treasurer. I also served briefly at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, as a full-time deputy. In December of 2005, I joined the Southern Polytechnic State University Police Department and served as a campus police officer for approximately one year. Prior to leaving S.P.S.U., I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In January of 2008, I joined the Holly Springs Police Department. I attended Wheeler High School, in Marietta and Kennesaw State University. I have been married for over 34 years and have three daughters and four granddaughters. My wife and I reside in Cherokee County. I proudly served in the United Stated Army from June of 1970 to March of 1973. My Army career included a tour of duty in both Germany and Vietnam. My favorite quote: “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.” Mark Twain
